Job Description

***Needs experience troubleshooting applications (Application Engineer or Administrator...not a Server or Systems Admin)
Position Summary
The Application Engineer (AE) will be dedicated to the initiative supporting the development, configuration and implementation of key applications and their infrastructure. This position will work with a small group of Application Engineers supporting the same goals of delivery. The willingness to learn new applications are critical to the success of this role. The ability to work within a flexible, changing environment is a must as we are often learning by trial and error, proof of concept and detailed analysis.
This role is unique in that it isn’t a Systems Administration role, but rather an Application Administration role. We need a resource who can troubleshoot why an application is/is not working, apply a new code release, do database SQL compares, load database schemas and be a technical resource for a suite of vendor applications. The successful candidate is capable of working in a flexible environment using trial and error to resolve problems. They will be investigative by nature and leverage the appropriate tools combined with their development-like skills to perform their work. Key attributes for a successful candidate look like this:
1. Willing to learn and show initiative
2. Not “heavy” in data center experience as this role will not perform this role (AD, hardware, building servers, data center operations, etc); but experience is good
3. Work in an environment with limited-admin rights
4. Able to support/manage/assess multiple configurations, across 10+ environments, and with most having separate, SQL databases.
5. Ability to work with end-users; must have ability to interface with others
6. Ability to handle walk-up questions, hands-on troubleshooting with users, and work with vendors to resolve
7. Be prepared for 7x24 support. Not necessarily in the office, but willing to troubleshoot from home to keep trains moving.
