Construction Manager – Substations & Transmission Lines
Locations: Binghamton NY, Rochester NY, Augusta ME

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Construction Manager to manage electric utility substation and transmission line projects. This person will be responsible for coordination of the construction of Transmission and Distribution projects, including coordination and compliance with the schedule, safety, cost, and quality decisions in conjunction with the Project Field Manager. The Construction Manager provides leadership, direction, management and the execution of construction design-build for projects in various locations.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages and coordinates all on-site subcontractor activities, efforts, schedule, and quality.
  • Supervises and mentors all superintendents; monitors their activities and provides leadership.
  • Monitors and reports on construction productivity and schedule performance.
  • Directs and approves the development and implementation of subcontractor schedule recovery plans as required.
  • Coordinates construction completion walk downs, and the complete hand over of start-up packages, and supervises the close out of all punch list items.
  • Coordinates with procurement of materials for acceptance.
  • Reviews, approves, and coordinates equipment rentals.
  • Conducts weekly coordination meeting with subcontractors.
  • Monitors all extra work authorization requests, back charges, and supplier and subcontractor progress/final payment requests.
  • Adheres to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, Guides, and Contractual commitments.
  • Directly responsible for the construction equipment budget.
  • Ability to stand in for the Project Field Manager in his absence.
Requirements:
  • 10 years minimum experience, 3 years with major projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering or heavy industrial experience preferred.
  • Extensive Transmission and/or Substation experience.
  • Knowledge of Power Delivery construction technology and EPC industry.
  • Knowledge of project budget process and tools, and project controls.
  • Experience with risk assessment/management and enforcement of administrative policies and procedures.
  • Leadership ability (team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, advising) and conflict management skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in addition to project management skills.
